You will enjoy this trip if...

If you long for a real adventure, seeking to merge with nature and to acquire a deep understanding of life in the heart of the Amazon jungle, then the time is now. If you are interested in science while also caring for nature, this stay is for you.

When you are tempted by an authentic connection with nature and want to experience it fully.

When you want to be part of research, knowledge, and the protection of nature.

When you seek inspiration, new impulses and want to discover a different way of life.

When you want to work with experts, learn from the field, and see the results of your activities.

What you will experience during your stay

You will spend three intense weeks in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. You will observe animals in the wild, learn about their behavior, assist with the installation of research equipment, and the collection and processing of data. All under professional guidance.

You will actively participate in the monitoring of animals using camera traps and video feeders.

You will learn to make and install feeders and nest-boxes, including their maintenance.

You will participate in data processing, species identification, and animal behavior analysis.

You will experience daily life in a protected reserve, in the rhythm of the jungle, close to rainforest predators and colorful birds.

Help the forest sing

Work with local schools, universities, and communnities to help care for the rare birds of the rainforest. They are rapidly losing their land to cattle-farms, mining, and logging. Help us monitor these rare birds, and work towards rehabilitating their wild population.

Develop scientific knowledge and protect the site's biodiversity

Capture video and photographic evidence of endangered species

Reintroduce native species to reforested parts of the jungle

What should I take with me?

If we had to share one piece of advice with explorers, it would be to keep an open mind and a sense of adventure. The second piece of advice would be to pack light.

How do we get to the place?

The journey to the Singing Forest begins in Gualaquiza, a town near the Ecuadorian Amazon and the base camp/refuge Bosque Medicinal. The bus ride from the nearest international airports is long, so please plan your journey accordingly. We will do everything we can to assist you with your travel plans.

Flights:

*You are responsible for booking your flights; the cost of flights IS NOT included in the fees we charge for the volunteer program.

We recommend flying to Guayaquil, as the airport often has more convenient connections and is cheaper than flying to Cuenca, which is technically closer. Quito is much further north, and we do not recommend flying to Quito.

Bus:

Once you land, take a taxi to the bus station and then take a bus to Gualaquiza. We will meet in Gualaquiza, either at the bus station or at the hostel “El Paraíso.” The hostel is just a block from the bus station.

We are happy to help with all travel arrangements, but please contact us well in advance!
